Job summary

Blattner is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer – Gas Power Generation to steer the mechanical engineering execution on utility-scale projects from proposal to commissioning. You will mentor engineers, set engineering standards, and ensure safe, reliable, and constructible designs aligned with client needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET-accredited college.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
• Seven or more years of progressive mechanical engineering experience supporting utility-scale power generation, industrial facilities, EPC, or related industries.
• Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and coordinating complex mechanical engineering projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical engineering execution from estimating through construction support and project closeout.
• Develop preliminary mechanical designs for proposals optimizing constructability, reliability, safety, and cost.
• Lead Basis of Design development, mechanical engineering reviews, RFIs, and technical documentation.
• Review layouts, P&IDs, equipment specs, and vendor drawings for quality and compliance.
• Coordinate mechanical activities with Project Engineering, Estimating, Supply Chain, Construction, Owners, EORs, and manufacturers.
• Support equipment selection, procurement strategies, vendor evaluations, and submittal reviews.
• Lead constructability reviews, value engineering, and risk assessments to improve execution and competitiveness.
• Mentor Engineers and CAD Designers through guidance and best practices.
• Drive standards, lessons learned, and continuous improvement across Blattner’s gas power portfolio.
• Support integration of gas turbines, engines, BOP, fuel/cooling systems into facilities.
• Serve as the technical mechanical resource for complex design challenges across project phases.
