Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems seeks a Mechanical Engineer to join our manufacturing team. You will provide technical leadership during commissioning, implementation, and integration of manufacturing equipment, ensuring efficiency, quality, and safety. Coverage for second shift and support for FAT/SAT are included.

You will collaborate with production and engineering to optimize processes, perform root cause analysis, and drive continuous improvement. Proficiency in 3D CAD and GD&T is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience focused on manufacturing equipment.
• 3+ years of manufacturing equipment and tooling design.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and motion control.
• Experience with FAT and SAT of equipment.
• Proficient with 3D CAD software and 2D drawings.
• Understanding of GD&T and its application.
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Experience with commissioning and startup of manufacturing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise during commissioning, implementation, and integration of manufacturing equipment.
• Support FAT and SAT of equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and improve equipment efficiency.
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to optimize processes.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives for manufacturing equipment to increase efficiency.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Create and maintain P&IDs.
• Understand and apply GD&T.
• Work with external vendors to ensure timely delivery of equipment and materials.
• Conceptualize and detail new manufacturing equipment for scaled manufacturing processes.
• Run experiments to evaluate feasibility of new manufacturing processes.
