Job summary

Symbotic is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to advance the mechanical development of our mobile 4-wheeled robot lineup from concept through production. You will own hardware, collaborate with contract manufacturers, and lead sustained improvements to deliver reliable platforms at scale.

You will design mechanical assemblies, create 3D models and drawings in SolidWorks, apply DFM/DFA, support PPAP and production ramp, travel up to 25%, and partner with suppliers and internal teams to

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in mechanical engineering, with robotics/automation exposure.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks and PDM/PLM systems.
• Experience with contract manufacturers and production issue resolution.
• Hands-on experience designing jigs, fixtures, tooling, or manufacturing support equipment.
• Knowledge of GD&T, tolerancing, and manufacturing methods such as sheet metal, machining, injection molding, and die casting.

Responsibilities

• Own hardware for a mobile 4-wheeled robot product line from concept through end-of-life.
• Design and develop mechanical assemblies including frames, drive systems, packaging, and components.
• Create 3D models, drawings, and BOMs in SolidWorks or equivalent CAD tools.
• Apply DFM/DFA to optimize designs for high-volume manufacturing and cost efficiency.
• Interface with contract manufacturers to support production builds and resolve issues.
• Present at design reviews and manage ECNs and PLM updates.
• Design and implement assembly jigs, fixtures, and tooling to improve quality and throughput.
• Support PPAP, FAI, production ramp activities, and travel up to 25%.
