Job summary

Corning Inc. in North Carolina seeks a Sr. Mechanical Engineer to provide hands-on engineering support for equipment construction, installation, debugging, and startup at domestic and international locations.

You will oversee internal teams and contractors, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality execution across projects. Strong emphasis on safety and project leadership is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 2–7 years experience in manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on work with mechanical tools and measurement equipment.
• Strong teamwork and safety commitment.
• Solid understanding of mechanical systems, piping/PDs, drive trains, and actuators.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, installation, debugging, and startup of new and existing equipment.
• Develop project plans focusing on safety, quality, schedule, cost, and reliability.
• Direct and mentor technicians, contractors, designers, and junior engineers.
• Coordinate materials, procurement, vendor communication, and documentation.
• Promote proactive safety culture and risk assessments.
• Communicate status and risks to teams and leadership.
