Job summary

Corning, Newton, NC-based Mechanical Engineer position is responsible for supporting manufacturing capacity expansion through equipment installation, startup, commissioning, and line debug, with emphasis on mechanical engineering and project management.

This role partners with operations, maintenance, engineering teams and vendors to deliver reliable equipment solutions and a smooth transition to production, while upholding safety standards and thorough documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience with equipment installation, startup, commissioning, and project management.
  • Project leadership or project management experience.
  • Strong mechanical engineering, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • AutoCAD experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience working with equipment vendors and suppliers.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing equipment and mechanical systems integration.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented

Responsibilities

  • Lead and/or support equipment installation, startup, commissioning, and capacity expansion projects.
  • Provide hands-on mechanical engineering support for line debug, equipment performance, and process improvement.
  • Manage engineering activities to meet project milestones, schedules, and operational readiness goals.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to resolve technical issues and support project scope, cost, and timing.
  • Prepare equipment and processes for handoff to operations.
  • Develop and update engineering, equipment, and operational documentation.
  • Identify spare parts needs and support storeroom setup for new or modified equipment.
  • Support training for operations and maintenance teams on equipment and process changes.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and process issues using data analysis, root cause problem solving, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Design and implement mechanical solutions to improve equipment capability, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Maintain safe work practices and support compliance with site safety standards.
