Job summary

Salas O’Brien is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead HVAC and process ventilation design for complex, secure federal facility programs in the Baltimore/Washington, DC corridor. The role focuses on life-safety critical systems, hazardous occupancies, and base building HVAC as well as specialized ventilation, gas monitoring, and related infrastructure.

The ideal candidate has a PE license, 10+ years of design experience, and can manage projects end-to-end while coordinating with clients,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Minimum 10 years of design experience.
• Minimum 2 years of project management experience (preferred).
• Knowledge of hazardous occupancy classifications (e.g., IBC H-2) and related codes.

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to determine HVAC and process ventilation requirements.
• Develop HVAC and specialized process ventilation system designs based on project scope and RFPs.
• Provide engineering design, evaluation, and planning of mechanical systems including base building HVAC and specialty systems.
• Perform load/energy calculations using Trace 700/3D, IES, and similar software.
• Coordinate with other disciplines and provide construction administration services.
