Job summary

Salas O’Brien in Baltimore, MD is seeking a Technical Engineering Design Manager to lead multidisciplinary design-build programs for secure, high-hazard facilities.

You will direct architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, fire protection, civil, process, and environmental engineering leads from concept through construction-ready design, ensuring alignment with client mission requirements and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering and PE license.
• 15+ years design experience on federal/high-hazard facilities.
• 5+ years PM leading multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience with design-build and progressive design development.
• Knowledge of ICD 705, IBC H-2, and DOE/NNSA requirements.
• Experience coordinating with security and accreditation authorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary engineering leads across all design phases.
• Translate client requirements into Basis of Design and design packages.
• Manage design-phase value engineering and constructability reviews.
• Resolve cross-disciplinary design conflicts before construction.
• Oversee design QA/QC and review cycles (15%, 35%, 65%, 95%, final).
• Support business development and client presentations.
