Job summary

Heirloom is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to own the design and execution of complex subsystems that impact economics, reliability, and scalability of core technology. You will drive end-to-end design, validation, and production ramp in a high-ownership, cross-functional role.

You will challenge assumptions, perform trade studies, and push for robust, manufacturable solutions with strong DC ramps and tests to ensure long-term operability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience delivering products from concept to production.
• Strong fundamentals with first-principles thinking and data-driven decisions.
• Experience applying Design for Reliability (DfR) and reliability modelling.
• Ability to lead cross-functional projects with minimal supervision.
• Proven track record producing manufacturable designs and robust drawings.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end design of mechanical subsystems from requirements to deployment.
• Drive cost, reliability, manufacturability, and serviceability tradeoffs.
• Design components using sheet metal, casting, roll forming, extrusions.
• Lead design trade studies with first-principles analysis and data.
• Develop product-level test fixtures and validation strategies for reliability.
• Collaborate with suppliers, manufacturing, and supply chain.
• Create and review 2D drawings with GD&T for production and inspection.
• Support rapid prototyping and NPI rigor.
• Mentor peers and raise engineering quality across the team.
