Job summary

Shift Ladder is seeking a senior mechanical engineer to own major subsystems from concept through production in the United States. You will mentor junior engineers, review CAD models, and defend tolerances with math. You will ensure designs are manufacturable and lead cross-functional design reviews.

Expect hands-on leadership in FEA simulations, materials selection, and collaboration with vendors to optimize performance and reliability.

Qualifications

• BS deg in mechanical engineering or equivalent + PE license preferred.
• 3–8 years of relevant mechanical design experience.
• Strong CAD proficiency and GD&T understanding.

Responsibilities

• Own major mechanical subsystems from concept to production.
• Run FEA simulations and validate with physical tests.
• Mentor junior engineers and review CAD models/drawings.
• Lead design reviews and defend tolerances with math.
• Coordinate with manufacturing to ensure designs are manufacturable.
• Manage vendor relationships for custom components/materials.
• Explain why simplifications affect physics to project managers.
