Critical Energy in Hawthorne, CA seeks a Senior Systems Engineer with hands-on mechanical design and fluid dynamics to advance design, testing, and optimization of modular power generation systems. You will own cradle-to-grave development across mechanical and fluid subsystems.

Collaborating with Turbomachinery, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Field Ops, you will ensure performance, reliability, and manufacturability through first principles and practical product development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of proven systems engineering experience.
• Strong grounding in core mechanical engineering principles.
• Experience with CAD and ability to self-teach Siemens NX.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
• Team-oriented work style.

Responsibilities

• Define system requirements for mechanical and fluid systems.
• Develop system-level architecture for subsystems.
• Perform trade studies on configurations, flow, and costs.
• Integrate pumps, piping, valves, heat exchangers, and machinery.
• Design structural support hardware for components and subsystems.
• Perform first-principles hand calculations for sizing and stresses.
• Conduct FEA to assess structural integrity.
• Optimize plant layout for cost and maintainability.
• Support testing and data analysis to refine designs.
• Create design documentation and vendor relationships.
