Job summary

Positron AI seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to own the mechanical design of enclosures, chassis, and carrier-board integration for rack-mount AI inference platforms. Qualifications

• BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering with 7+ years designing electromechanical and enclosure hardware for high-performance electronic systems.
• Proven expertise in 3D CAD (SolidWorks and/or Creo), detailed drawings and GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and thermal/structural simulation (SolidWorks Simulation/Flow, Ansys).
• Experience with rack-mount/high-density electronic packaging and managing custom-part suppliers and contract manufacturers through EVT/DVT/pilot phases.
• DFx discipline: applying DFM/DFA and FMEA to drive cost, quality, and manufacturability in high-volume or complex production environments.
• Strong ability to write clear mechanical specifications and communicate trade-offs across electrical, thermal, ASIC, firmware, and operations teams.

Responsibilities

• Own the mechanical design of enclosures, chassis, and carrier-board integration for rack-mount systems (1U/2U).
• Lead thermal-mechanical and structural design and simulation to meet air- and liquid-cooling targets.
• Engage with contract manufacturers, ODMs, and fabricators through EVT, DVT, pilot, and production ramps.
• Lead DFM/DFA reviews to reduce cost and improve robustness; manage tolerances and assembly sequences.
• Develop and qualify mechanical fixtures and packaging, and support test, transit qualification, and packaging implementation.
• Create mechanical test plans (structural, thermal, environmental) and support EMC/EMI and regulatory needs.
