Job summary

d-Matrix is leading AI hardware development with a focus on scalable rack-scale mechanical design. The Mechanical Engineer will own systems from concept through mass production, collaborating across thermal, electrical, software and systems teams to ensure robust, manufacturable designs.

You will drive CAD/FEA work, review cooling architectures, and coordinate with suppliers and ODMs to deliver reliable, high-performance IT hardware. A strong background in OCP and thrust toward MP is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of mechanical design, simulation, and validation for IT hardware.
• Expertise with OCP specifications and rack-scale system design.
• DFM, GD&T, and tolerance stack‑up analysis for high-volume chassis/enclosures.
• Experience with liquid-cooled rack architectures and thermal management.

Responsibilities

• Lead rack-scale mechanical design for AI inference hardware in compliance with OCP specifications.
• Design and validate chassis, sheet metal enclosures, cooling architectures, and high-powered connections.
• Own the product lifecycle from concept to mass production (NPI to MP).
• Conduct mechanical reliability testing (shock, vibration, thermal cycling) and lead 3D modeling and FEA for manufacturability.
• Collaborate with suppliers, ODMs, CMs, and JDMs to develop mechanical/thermal components and support ramp.
• Debug and resolve quality issues during NPI and production; perform root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Review and sign off on liquid-cooled cold plate and manifold integration at rack level; ensure CDU interfaces compatibility.
• Develop specifications and test procedures for reliability and performance; mentor engineers.
• Evaluate new technologies to improve mechanical/thermal performance and ensure quality standards at launch.
