Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead design efforts for large industrial projects, including biogas, water treatment, and bulk materials handling. You will drive mechanical scope, coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams, and ensure design integrity from concept through construction.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years in mechanical or process engineering, with ABET-accredited education, EIT certification, and PE preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• EIT certification required; PE preferred or willing to obtain.
• 10+ years of mechanical or process engineering experience in industrial facilities; data center experience highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Provide design, coordination, and oversight of mechanical systems for industrial facilities, including biogas, water/wastewater, pumping, and piping.
• Lead and mentor engineering teams; manage design and deliverables within budgets and schedules.
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary design efforts and oversee third-party engineering partners.
• Review contracts and RFPs, ensuring design compliance and project goals.
• Produce PFDs, P&IDs, datasheets, and vendor drawings per codes and standards.
• Support construction teams on-site with design clarification and on-going solutions.
• Develop project schedules, staffing plans, and workload distribution.
• Perform early concept studies, process flow, mass/energy balances, and equipment sizing.
