Job summary

L3Harris Technologies, Inc. in Rochester, NY is seeking a Senior Specialist, Mechanical Engineering to design, develop, and support mechanical systems for ground-based satellite communication equipment. You will lead cross-functional teams and own the definition of system architecture, tolerances, and drawings.

The role requires strong CAD/FEA skills, experience with ruggedized equipment, and familiarity with MIL-STD standards. Security clearance may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering from ABET-accredited program; 6+ years of related experience.
• Graduate degree with 4+ years related experience; or 10 years experience in lieu of degree.
• 4 years experience with mechanical detailed design and new product development, manufacturing processes, and CAD modeling.
• Experience with ruggedized communications equipment for harsh environments; EMI shielding and IP65+ enclosures.

Responsibilities

• Design concepts and detailed designs for ground-based satellite communication equipment.
• Guide mechanical system architecture definition and drive drawing releases.
• Lead small cross-functional teams of engineers and designers.
• Coordinate with manufacturing, vendors, and suppliers for mechanical integration.
• Analyze tolerances and perform DFMA reviews and optimization.
