Job summary

Actalent in Goleta, CA seeks a Mechanical Engineer III to lead design, development, testing, and production transition of advanced electromechanical systems for defense and aerospace. You drive concepts through prototype testing and release, collaborating with cross-functional teams on vehicle-mounted systems, radar platforms, and weapon systems.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in mechanical design, a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, Creo CAD proficiency, and experience with MIL-STD

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 7+ years mechanical engineering experience focused on structural or mechanical design.
• Proficiency with Creo CAD for 3D modeling and drawing creation.
• Experience designing structural components, brackets, mounts, chassis, enclosures, or similar mechanical hardware.
• Strong understanding of material properties and manufacturing processes relevant to production hardware.
• Experience supporting prototypes, including assembly, testing, and product validation.
• Knowledge of engineering documentation practices including GD&T and detailed drawing creation.
• Experience in R&D or low-volume/high-mix environments.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly in design reviews.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical and structural components for defense/aerospace applications.
• Create 3D CAD models and drawings using Creo with GD&T.
• Perform structural and stress analyses to support design decisions.
• Support prototype builds with documentation and hands-on assembly.
• Lead design verification, testing, qualification, and validation activities.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to transition designs to production.
• Participate in design reviews and present technical concepts.
• Develop solutions for vehicle-mounted systems and related mechanical structures.
• Ensure interfaces and integrity for manned/unmanned platforms.
