We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the design, analysis, testing, and qualification of advanced aerospace hardware. Working closely with electrical, systems, and manufacturing engineers, you will take ownership of mechanical designs from requirements and concept through prototype, qualification, and production. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy hands‑on technical work and delivering high‑performance hardware for demanding environments.
What You’ll Do
- Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and enclosures for aerospace electronics, power, and cryogenic systems
- Create and maintain 3D models, drawings, and documentation using SolidWorks or similar CAD tools
- Perform thermal and structural analysis, including FEA, and technical trade studies
- Support thermal management, packaging, and mechanical integration of electronic hardware
- Select materials and manufacturing processes appropriate for high‑reliability applications
- Plan and execute mechanical, environmental, and qualification testing
- Support hardware through prototype, qualification, and production phases
- Participate in design reviews, root‑cause investigations, and technical decision‑making
- Generate test procedures, analysis reports, and technical documentation
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers as needed
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline
- 5+ years of professional mechanical engineering experience
- Strong foundation in mechanical design principles, including materials, tolerancing, and design for manufacturability
- Experience with 3D CAD, preferably SolidWorks
- Experience with finite element analysis (FEA), primarily thermal and structural
- Hands‑on experience with test equipment and deliverable hardware
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
- Demonstrated ownership mentality and ability to independently execute technical tasks
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with aerospace, defense, or other high‑reliability systems
- Experience with cryogenic systems, cryocoolers, or low‑temperature thermal design
- Experience working within a configuration management system
- Experience with thermal management of electronics, including conduction cooling
- Experience with vibration, shock, thermal‑vacuum, or other environmental qualification testing
- Experience with GD&T and drawing standards (e.g., ASME Y14.5)
- Experience owning hardware through the full lifecycle and mentoring junior engineers
