Job summary

AECOM is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer for the Data Center and Mission Critical team in the US. The role focuses on HVAC design for data centers, CFD analysis, redundancy, and capacity planning, with remote flexibility and occasional travel to client sites.

Ideal candidates have extensive data center experience, PE registration, and a strong background in mechanical and electrical systems integration within mission-critical environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required with 8+ years of relevant experience or equivalent.
• Experience with data center mechanical and electrical equipment installation and operation.
• P.E. registration is required.

Responsibilities

• Data Center Heat Rejection and HVAC system design tailored for data centers.
• Cooling system selection for data centers including fan walls, CRAHs, chilled water, DX, CRAC units, in-row cooling and containment.
• CFD simulations to optimize airflow and identify hotspots for efficient cooling.
• Design HVAC systems with redundancy and fault-tolerance features for continuous operation.
• Perform heat load calculations and capacity planning for IT equipment and phasing.
• Implement energy-efficient HVAC strategies (economizers, VSDs, energy recovery).
• Ensure air quality and filtration through appropriate systems and monitoring.
• Coordinate with electrical and mechanical teams to integrate HVAC with UPS and power infrastructure.
