Job summary

AECOM, a leading global infrastructure firm, seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design for hyperscale data centers. The role involves designing and overseeing HVAC, piping, and fire suppression systems, with flexibility for remote work and multiple US locations, including Arlington, VA.

The candidate will guide a mechanical team, ensure project delivery within budget and schedule, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to optimize energy efficiency and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering with 10+ years experience in data center infrastructure or equivalent experience.
• P.E. license required.
• Experience with CAD and BIM software.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary point of contact for clients, timely and professional responses.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships and regular communication.
• Lead mechanical engineering across HVAC, fire protection, and plumbing.
• Develop detailed specs for mechanical equipment (pumps, fans, AHUs).
• Write technical reports for internal and external use.
• Ensure discipline plans meet project scope and schedule.
• Collaborate with electrical/mechanical teams to integrate data center infrastructure.
• Analyze energy use and identify optimization opportunities.
