Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for the Data Center and Mission Critical team in the United States. The role focuses on designing HVAC and heat rejection systems for data centers, with emphasis on efficiency, scalability, and reliability.

You will perform CFD analyses to optimize airflow, select appropriate cooling solutions, and ensure systems meet uptime and energy goals. Occasional travel and relocation support are available for suitable candidates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree with 8+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• Experience in data center mechanical and electrical equipment installation and operation.
• P.E. registration is required.

Responsibilities

• Data Center Heat Rejection and HVAC System Design for data centers, considering cooling options and redundancy.
• Cooling System Selection for data centers, including CRAHs, DX systems, and containment solutions.
• CFD Analysis to optimize airflow, identify hotspots, and inform design modifications.
• Redundancy and Fault Tolerance: design backup cooling and automatic switchover mechanisms.
• Heat Load Calculation and Capacity Planning for IT equipment and growth.
• Energy Efficiency: implement economizers, VSDs, and optimized airflow.
• Air Quality and Filtration: design filtration and monitor air quality.
• Coordinate with Electrical and Mechanical teams to integrate systems.
