Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for Data Centers. This remote (US) position focuses on designing heat rejection and HVAC systems for data centers, optimizing cooling performance, and ensuring scalability and energy efficiency across projects.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team to implement CFD analyses, redundancy, and capacity planning while coordinating with electrical systems to deliver resilient data center solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree with 8+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency.
• Experience in data center mechanical and electrical equipment installation and operation.
• P. E. registration is required.

Responsibilities

• Design Heat Rejection and HVAC systems for data centers incl. cooling strategies and energy efficiency.
• Select air/water side cooling systems (CRAHs, DX, in-row, etc.).
• Conduct CFD simulations to optimize airflow and identify hotspots.
• Design HVAC with redundancy and fault tolerance for continuous operation.
• Compute heat loads and plan capacity for IT and facility areas.
• Implement energy-efficient HVAC strategies including economizers and VSDs.
• Coordinate with electrical and mechanical systems for integrated design.
