Job summary

Canvas in Huntsville is seeking a senior mechanical engineer to lead the design, development, and integration of aircraft hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems. The role requires deep expertise in airworthiness, structural analysis, and weight and balance, with oversight of engineering projects.

The candidate should have 10+ years in the field, with five years in DoD/USG ISR/SOF organizations, and degrees aligned to ABET standards. This position is on-site at our Huntsville facility.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering (ABET highly desired) with 10 years in the discipline; five years in DoD/USG ISR/SOF organizations.
• Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering with 12 years in the discipline; five years in DoD/USG ISR/SOF organizations.

Responsibilities

• Provide highly technical expertise and guidance in solving complex engineering problems for C-130 Special Mission Aircraft undergoing heavy depot maintenance and modification.
• Perform in all phases of hardware design, development, integration/implementation, and analysis.
• Plan and conduct engineering feasibility studies for design improvements and implementation of advanced technologies.
• Develop standards and guidelines for tasks, including Tailored Airworthiness Certification Criteria (TACC) or Modified Airworthiness Certification Criteria (MACC).
• Develop structural and corrosion repairs.
