Job summary

Canvas Inc. seeks an Avionics Engineer Senior to lead design, development, and integration of complex military electrical and electronic systems. The role requires expertise across hardware, software, verification, and airworthiness, with strict security clearance expectations.

Candidates should have advanced degrees and extensive DoD/USG ISR/SOF experience, and will collaborate with cross-functional teams in a mission-focused environment. A TS/SCI clearance is required or obtainable.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Doctorate degree in a related field; ten years of experience in the DoD or other USG ISR/SOF organizations preferred, five years in DoD/USG ISR/SOF.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 12 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline; five years in DoD/USG ISR/SOF organizations preferred.
• Must have ABET-accredited engineering program degree for the position (electrical, mechanical, aerospace).

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise across hardware development, integration, verification and validation, and airworthiness certification.
• Translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications for avionics systems.
• Collaborate with design, development, and test teams on advanced software/hardware efforts.
• Participate in hardware evaluations and contribute to standards and guidelines for tasks performed.
• Support engineering tasks such as investigations, trade-off studies, and depot assistance requests.
• Engage in TIMs, PDRs, CDRs, PCAs, FCAs, FATs, and CCB/AW meetings as needed.
