Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. seeks a Sr. Mechanical Engineer to design, analyze and test mechanical systems for high altitude aerospace electronics. You will lead mechanical packaging and contribute to production of rotating electrical machines and related hardware.

The role requires experience with CAD/CAE tools, thermal management, and MIL-STD standards, and offers a challenging, fast-paced environment with opportunities to mentor teammates.

Qualifications

• 8–12 years of mechanical engineering experience, with 5+ years in production rotating electrical machines or electronics packaging for aerospace.
• Experience developing requirements specs for mechanical subsystems per MIL-STD 961D or equivalent.
• Proficient with SolidWorks, ANSYS and thermal analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Leads or supports thermal, structural, dynamic, and fluid flow analyses for electronics equipment.
• Leads testing and data collection in laboratory and field environments.
• Models mechanical devices and selects appropriate materials.
• Performs stress, fatigue, and thermal analyses and bonding material selection.
• Develops mechanical drawings, tolerances, assembly instructions and test procedures.
