Job summary

AeroVironment is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to design, install, modify, analyze and test tooling, engines and mechanical systems for high‑altitude aerospace applications. You will lead mechanical design and packaging for electronics and manage mid‑size development projects with subcontractors.

Responsibilities include leading thermal, structural and dynamic analyses, conducting lab and field tests, creating mechanical drawings and BOMs, and ensuring manufacturing readiness.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8–12 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience.
• Experience developing for production rotating electrical machines and aerospace applications.
• Proficiency with CAD/CAE tools including SolidWorks, ANSYS and ANSYS Icepack.

Responsibilities

• Leads or supports thermal, structural, dynamic, and fluid analysis for electronics equipment.
• Leads testing and data collection in lab and field.
• Creates mechanical drawings and specifies dimensional tolerances; develops BOMs.
