Job summary

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Senior Associate, Mechanical Engineering in Carlsbad, CA. The role focuses on designing, developing, and qualifying mechanical systems within a multidisciplinary team, with emphasis on 3D CAD design, analysis, and test integration.

Responsibilities include producing drawings and specs to meet military requirements, performing structural/thermal analyses, and coordinating with manufacturing and quality teams. Travel up to 30 days/year may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of related experience.
• Graduate degree or equivalent with 0–2 years of related experience.
• In lieu of a degree, at least 6 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development, integration, and operational support of modules and electronics for aerospace/defense.
• Mechanical design in 3D CAD.
• Develop design documentation including drawings and specifications meeting military specs.
• Prototype, integrate, and test component parts and assemblies.
• Perform stress, thermal, shock, and vibration analysis using FEA software (ANSYS).
• Develop test plans and procedures for mechanical subsystems.
• Perform test and evaluation of component parts and systems.
• Participate in peer reviews, PDRs, CDRs, and other design reviews.
• Coordinate with manufacturing and quality engineering to ensure hardware is producible and inspectable.
• Adhere to company processes for product development, configuration management, purchasing, etc.
• Travel (typically less than 30 days per year).
