Job summary

L3Harris Technologies in Carlsbad, CA seeks a Mechanical Engineer Specialist to design, develop, and qualify mechanical systems within a collaborative team environment. The role focuses on 3D modeling, hardware design documentation, analysis, integration and testing.

You will work with NX CAD tools, develop drawings and data items to meet military specs, prototype, test components, and contribute to design reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
• Must be able to obtain US Secret Security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Assist development, integration, fielding and operational support of modules and electronics.
• Familiarity with mechanical design in NX or similar CAD tools.
• Develop design documentation including drawings, specifications and data items.
• Prototype, integrate and test component parts and assemblies.
• Perform stress, thermal, shock and vibration analysis using FEA software (e.g., ANSYS).
• Develop test plans and procedures for mechanical subsystems.
• Participate in design reviews and ensure producibility and inspectability.
