Divergent in Los Angeles designs and manufactures advanced systems for demanding industries, including laser powder bed fusion platforms and related equipment. We seek a Senior Mechanical Engineer to own major design efforts from problem definition through release and machine integration, while mentoring teammates.

The role requires strong 3D CAD, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and DFMA skills, plus hands-on prototype work and collaboration across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Demonstrated ability to independently develop complex mechanical systems from concept through design, build, test and release.
• Strong 3D CAD, drawings, GD&T, tolerance analysis and design for manufacturability knowledge.
• Broad understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals and ability to apply to multidisciplinary problems.
• Hands-on prototype development, integration, testing, and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment.
• Ability to lead cross-functional technical work and communicate decisions and risks clearly.

Responsabilités

• Own assigned mechanical systems and major design efforts from problem definition through release and integration.
• Translate needs into clear requirements, interfaces, constraints, and acceptance criteria.
• Develop concepts and detailed designs using CAD models, drawings, GD&T, and BOMs.
• Evaluate design tradeoffs across performance, reliability, safety, manufacturability, cost, and risk.
• Lead analysis, prototyping, assembly, testing, and design iteration as needed.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers.
