Job summary

Divergent in Torrance, CA is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to develop complex mechanical systems for the Monolith One laser powder bed fusion platform, printers in the same class, and related equipment. You will act as the Responsible Engineer guiding work from problem definition to release and machine integration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Ability to independently develop complex mechanical systems from concept through release.
• Strong 3D CAD, drawings, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and manufacturability.
• Ability to lead cross-functional technical work with limited oversight.
• Hands-on prototype development, testing, and troubleshooting experience.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lb and work around industrial equipment.

Responsibilities

• Own assigned mechanical systems from problem definition through release, integration, and validation.
• Translate operational needs into clear requirements, interfaces, constraints, and acceptance criteria.
• Develop CAD models and drawings with GD&T, tolerance analyses, and BOMs.
• Evaluate design alternatives balancing performance, safety, cost, and schedule.
• Lead design reviews and mentor other engineers.
• Drive documentation, changes, and coordination with procurement and manufacturing.
• Support machine integration and fleet investigations for durable improvements.
