About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, development, qualification, and production release of mission-critical aerospace and defense hardware.

This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who can take complex mechanical components or subsystems from concept through qualification and production, while working closely with customers, suppliers, manufacturing, quality, and test teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and development of aerospace components and flight hardware.
• Own products from concept, design, prototyping, testing, qualification, through production.
• Design and develop components such as valves, regulators, actuators, solenoids, pistons, and fluid systems.
• Create engineering drawings, specifications, technical analyses, and risk assessments.
• Lead design reviews, qualification testing, and technical investigations.
• Perform root cause analysis and develop corrective actions for design and production issues.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, test, and supply chain teams.
• Support supplier qualification, NPI, customer reviews, and technical discussions.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering standards and best practices.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing, Materials Engineering, Engineering Physics, or related field.
• 5+ years of mechanical design, analysis, and hardware development experience.
• Experience taking an aerospace component or subsystem from concept through qualification or production.
• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and solid mechanics.
• Experience with engineering drawings, specifications, technical documentation, and risk assessments.
• Strong cross-functional and customer-facing communication skills.
• Ability to work fully onsite in El Segundo, CA.
• Must qualify as a U.S. Person under ITAR regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

• 7+ years of aerospace/mechanical engineering experience.
• Experience with flight hardware, propulsion, valves, regulators, or pressurized/cryogenic fluid systems.
• Qualification testing experience including vibration, shock, thermal, burst, leak, or lifecycle testing.
• Strong GD&T and FEA experience.
• Experience with Siemens NX or comparable CAD software.
• Familiarity with AS9100 and aerospace quality systems.
• Experience with 8D, Fishbone, or Fault Tree Analysis.
• Experience leading PDR/CDR and mentoring engineers.
