Job summary

Onto Innovation seeks a Senior Manager, Mechanical Engineer to lead cross-functional mechanical innovations across our instrument portfolio. You will drive prototyping, testing, and deployment of scalable solutions, reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Lead and ensuring on-time delivery of robust mechanical systems.

The role emphasizes lifecycle sustainability, documentation, and collaboration with Core Engineering and platform teams worldwide.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
7+ years of hands-on mechanical engineering experience with complex systems.
Advanced proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks) and related design tools.
Experience with design-for-manufacturing and lifecycle management principles.
Strong documentation skills for technical work.
Willingness to travel internationally around 20% of the time.

Responsibilities

Execute mechanical system enhancements by prototyping, testing and refining innovative solutions.
Perform reliability testing and lifecycle analysis on mechanical components to meet standards.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues in subsystems to improve reliability and efficiency.
Create and maintain CAD files, specs, interfaces and diagrams for platform teams.
