Job summary

Alto-Shaam seeks a Sr. Designer to create and maintain parts, assemblies, and production drawings in SolidWorks for NPD and ECOs. You will translate product requirements into detailed solutions that meet performance, cost, timing, and quality targets.

You will execute ECOs with attention to downstream impacts, work within the Design Team, and lead cross-functional reviews. Strong CAD, GD&T, and BOM management skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Design or Engineering-related field is a plus.
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical design and drafting.
• Proficiency in CAD techniques and standard engineering practices; ability to suggest improvements.
• SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD; PDM experience is a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook).
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes including sheet metal fabrication and injection molding.
• Solid engineering judgment and problem-solving capability.
• Ability to manage multiple activities and meet target dates.
• Effective communication across technical and non-technical teams.
• High attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain parts, assemblies, and production drawings in SolidWorks in support of NPD programs and ECOs.
• Translate product requirements into detailed design solutions meeting performance, cost, timing and quality targets.
• Execute ECOs with an understanding of downstream impacts, ensuring compliance with engineering standards.
• Function as an integrated member of the Design Team, following guidance of senior members and Engineers.
• Prepare top-level CAD models for, and lead, cross-functional design reviews and virtual builds.
• Perform basic design checks including: interference checks, clearance checks, and motion studies.
• Own drawing quality and adherence to GD&T and company/industry standards.
• Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing/Operations, and Supply Chain to support DFM/A and cost optimization efforts.
• Maintain and manage BOM structures with high accuracy.
• Contribute to design standards, libraries, and best practices.
