Job summary

Alto-Shaam, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Designer with 5+ years in mechanical design to create and maintain parts and production drawings in SolidWorks for NPD programs and ECOs.

You will translate product requirements into detailed, cost-conscious solutions while ensuring quality and adherence to standards. The role requires collaborating with Engineering, Manufacturing and Supply Chain, leading design reviews, and managing BOMs with high accuracy.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Design or Engineering-related field is a plus
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical design and drafting
• Proficiency in computer-aided drafting techniques and standard engineering practices
• Proficiency with SolidWorks (or equivalent 3D CAD); PDM experience is a plus
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook)
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including sheet metal fabrication and injection molding
• Solid engineering judgment and problem-solving capability
• Ability to manage multiple activities and meet target dates
• Effective communication across technical and non-technical teams
• High attention to detail

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain parts, assemblies, and production drawings in SolidWorks for NPD programs and ECOs
• Translate product requirements into detailed design solutions meeting performance, cost, timing and quality targets
• Execute ECOs with awareness of downstream impacts and ensure engineering standards compliance
• Collaborate as a design team member under guidance from senior engineers
• Prepare top-level CAD models for cross-functional design reviews and virtual builds
• Perform basic design checks like interference and motion studies
• Own drawing quality and adherence to GD&T and standards
• Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing and Supply Chain to support DFM/A and cost optimization
• Maintain and manage BOM structures with high accuracy
• Contribute to design standards, libraries, and best practices+
