Job summary

Dakota Bodies in Watertown, SD is seeking a Designer to assist in designing and creating product models, assemblies, BOMs and drawings in SolidWorks for production needs under the direction of engineers and the Director of Engineering. The Design Engineer will maintain product drawings by processing changes and create drawings per engineering standards.

The designer will also perform design calculations and make recommendations for elements of a product design in accordance with applicable codes

Qualifications

• Proficient 2D drawing and 3D modeling ability through use of SolidWorks.
• Prior work experience with SolidWorks required.
• Communication skills to organize problem solving reflected in designs.
• Mechanical design knowledge.
• Preferred Certification in SolidWorks and 3 to 5 years of related experience.
• Prefer Knowledge of GD&T and weld call outs.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Must have strong math skills.
• Must be detail oriented.
• Must work well with a team.

Responsibilities

• Create new product drawings/models and complete necessary calculations

• Generate and track Engineering Change Requests and New Product Requests with research for the required change
• Apply basic engineering principles in the design of new or modified products
• Reviews regulatory artwork for production and manufacturing

The Design Engineer will maintain product drawings by processing all necessary changes and create drawings per engineering standards. The designer will also perform design calculations and make recommendations for specific elements of a product design in accordance with the applicable codes and standards to which the products are manufactured.
