Job summary

Ingersoll Rand is seeking a Mechanical Designer in Hampton, NJ to design mechanical components, assemblies, and subassemblies for cordless, pneumatic, and electric power tools. You will drive mechanism, gear train, housing, and electromechanical integration from concept through production release.

The candidate should have strong CAD skills (Creo, SolidWorks, NX, or CATIA) and a solid understanding of manufacturing processes, GD&T, and DFM/DFA principles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience designing mechanical or electromechanical products.
• Proficient with Creo, SolidWorks, NX, or CATIA.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and subsystems using Creo or similar 3D CAD tools.
• Create and maintain engineering drawings, BOMs, and product documentation.
• Lead design activities for drivetrains, gear systems, mechanisms, housings, and structural components.
• Apply GD&T, tolerance analysis, DFM, and DFA principles to ensure robust product designs.
• Support prototype builds, product validation, issue resolution, and production launches.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Manufacturing, Quality, Sourcing, and suppliers to optimize performance, cost, reliability, and manufacturability.
