Job summary

Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. seeks a Senior Mechanical Designer for our Nashville, TN location. You will prepare design drawings, maintain high quality, and coordinate with architects, engineers, and clients.

On-site responsibilities include watching for design conflicts, updating models, and assisting in project administration. The ideal candidate has 6+ years of experience, proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, and related software, and a solid grasp of engineering principles and codes.

Qualifications

• Two-year technical degree plus six years applicable experience or eight years applicable experience.
• Three years of experience with large scope projects.
• Revit experience preferred.
• Capable of reading plans from multiple disciplines and applying codes and standards.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks and related engineering software.

Responsibilities

• Process drawings from the architect into usable design models for the team.
• Coordinate project setup and maintain current model through architect communication.
• Prepare accurate electronic drawings using industry software.
• Develop design approaches in coordination with the project engineer.
• Implement design requirements as directed by the design team.
• Perform system design layout and sizing for projects.
• Assist in equipment selection and load calculation for design fit.
• Review shop drawings and communicate changes to all disciplines.
• Attend project update meetings with clients and team members.
• Coordinate with owners, architects, and other disciplines throughout the project.
