Senior Design Specialist

Base pay range: $50.00/hr - $70.00/hr

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Design Specialist to support engineering and construction projects within a highly regulated environment. This role is ideal for a seasoned designer with strong CAD and 3D modeling capabilities, field walkdown experience, and the ability to independently produce high-quality drawings.

You will collaborate with engineering teams, interpret field direction, create new drawings, modify existing ones, and provide guidance to junior drafters.

Responsibilities

• Produce high-quality design drawings using CAD with minimal supervision
• Use drafting applications to originate, modify, and maintain drawings
• Perform field walkdowns to verify system conditions and gather design data
• Interpret engineering input and translate it into accurate design packages
• Create minor design details and support multi-discipline design needs
• Provide direction and mentorship to junior drafting staff

Basic Requirements

• Associate degree in a related engineering or drafting field
• 10+ years of progressive drafting/design experience in Engineering & Construction
• Strong experience with CAD applications (AutoCAD, etc.)
• 3D modeling experience required (S3D preferred)
• Working knowledge of Federal, State, and Local codes, including DOE Orders
• Experience supporting engineering disciplines such as mechanical, electrical, structural, civil, architectural, communications, or fire protection

Preferred Qualifications

• Nuclear facility or DOE site experience
• Ability to manage multiple design packages with minimal oversight
• Experience collaborating with engineers in highly regulated environment
