Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Mechanical Design & Analysis Engineer for an on-site role in Upington, Northern Cape. You will lead the full design cycle, perform FEA, and produce manufacturable, compliant designs.

Collaboration with manufacturing and QA teams is essential to deliver robust solutions. The ideal candidate holds a Mechanical Engineering degree with 4+ years of hands-on design and analysis experience, proficient in SolidWorks/Inventor and ANSYS/Abaqus, and ready to drive continuous process

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 4 years of hands-on mechanical design and engineering analysis.
• Strong understanding of mechanics of materials, dynamics, thermodynamics, and kinematics.
• Experience using FEA for stress, thermal, and vibration analyses.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks or Inventor and ANSYS or Abaqus.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and systems using 3D CAD software, ensuring functionality and manufacturability.
• Perform comprehensive Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to assess stress, strain, thermal behavior, and vibration characteristics of designs.
• Generate detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and BOMs compliant with industry standards.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and assembly teams to optimize production processes.
• Conduct design reviews, present analysis results, and propose design modifications to meet performance requirements.
• Troubleshoot design-related issues during prototyping, testing, or production.
• Stay current with CAD/CAE technologies and methodologies.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and documentation standards.
• Ensure designs comply with safety regulations and client requirements.
