Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Hardware Development Engineer within the Velocity team to design, develop, and deliver mechanical components and systems for Amazon's next generation of products. You will transform concepts into manufacturable designs that meet customer needs and business requirements.

You will work with cross‑functional teams to ensure designs meet cost, manufacturing constraints, and reliability, while mentoring junior engineers and driving continuous improvement in design processes.

Qualifications

Experience developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or equivalent.
8+ years in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
Experience with prototyping, implementation and scaling.

Responsibilities

Deliver mechanical design projects from concept through production, ensuring designs meet requirements, cost targets, and manufacturing constraints.
Create 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and specifications for mechanical components and assemblies.
Conduct analyses including tolerance stack-ups, GD&T, and FEA.
Develop and execute test plans to validate designs against requirements.
Collaborate with designers, electrical engineers, and manufacturing partners to integrate mechanical designs with subsystems.
Identify and resolve technical issues during development and production.
Document design decisions, test results, and engineering changes.
Support DFM and DFA activities.
Mentor junior engineers and drive continuous improvement of design processes.
