Job summary

KLA is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design, integration, and validation of complex multi-chamber subsystems in Milpitas. You will develop ultra-clean vacuum hardware, create detailed concepts, and drive analyses to optimize system stability.

Collaboration with optics, metrology, electrical, and software teams is essential. The role requires 8–12+ years in mechanical design, strong vacuum principles knowledge, and proficiency with 3D CAD/PLM tools; scripting skills

Qualifications

• Education: MS/PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience: 8–12+ years in mechanical design and integration of complex systems.
• Strong depth in mechanical engineering, design, and system integration.
• Familiarity with vacuum principles desired.
• Proficient in 3D CAD/PLM and analysis tools; scripting for data processing.
• Cross-functional leadership and clear technical communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design, integration, and validation of multi‑chamber subsystems.
• Design ultra-clean vacuum hardware, materials, seals, and interfaces.
• Develop chamber and frame concepts; create drawings and specs.
• Perform structural, thermal, fluid, and vibrational analyses.
• Collaborate with optics, metrology, electrical, controls/PLC, software, manufacturing.
• Define interfaces for vacuum-related elements across chambers and integration.
• Document vacuum operation schemes and interlocks with Controls.
• Establish contamination-control strategies with Materials Eng and Supply Chain.
• Conduct pumping/configuration analyses and collaborate with vacuum specialists.
• Lead design reviews (CDR, DDR) ensuring requirements flow to teams.
• Own integration for vibration isolation and optical stability.
• Plan, execute, and oversee tests; manage risk via FMEA and corrective actions.
• Mentor engineers and maintain engineering artifacts.
