Job summary

KLA’s Milpitas, CA site seeks an experienced mechanical designer to develop precision optomechanical systems for semiconductor inspection and metrology. You will translate requirements into robust designs and collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams.

Responsibilities include 3D CAD in Creo, GD&T, tolerance analysis, design reviews, and documenting release packages for production. You will tackle challenges in low-stress, high-stability mechanisms and vacuum environments.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in 3D solid modeling.
• Minimum 1 year in FEA and GD&T.
• Strong background in mechanism design.
• Basic understanding of optical subsystems.
• Familiar with machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding, and castings.
• Doctorate/Master's/Bachelor's with related work experience levels.

Responsibilities

• Drive design from requirements to manufacturing release.
• Develop and track cost and schedule.
• Create models/drawings using Creo.
• Perform fluid, thermal, and vibrational analyses (hand calcs/FEA).
• Apply GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Lead design reviews and obtain peer feedback.
• Procure, assemble, and test prototype material.
• Support system integration and testing.
• Create assembly and test procedures.
• Generate documentation and release handoffs.
