Job summary

Footbridge Federal seeks an experienced mechanical design engineer with an active Secret clearance to join our defense engineering team in Massachusetts. You will work on machined components and complex assemblies, including electronic packaging and opto-mechanics.

Responsibilities include producing detailed 3D CAD models and finish drawings in SolidWorks, defining material specs and tolerances, preparing release documents, and supporting fabrication and assembly with technical guidance.

Qualifications

• Active Secret clearance (Interim Secret acceptable to start).
• 5+ years mechanical product design experience, focus on machined components.
• At least 4 years using SolidWorks for 3D CAD design.
• Experience designing complex assemblies (electronic packaging, opto-mechanics, mechanisms, or structural components).
• Knowledge of manufacturability and conventional machining techniques.
• Deep understanding of ASME Y14.5 GD&T.
• Excellent communication skills to present technical findings.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed 3D CAD models and finished manufacturing drawings.
• Define material specifications, surface finishes, and dimensional tolerances.
• Prepare formal engineering release and revision documentation.
• Assist with fabrication orders and provide technical support during manufacturing and assembly phases.
