Job summary

WR Systems in Norfolk, VA seeks a Lead Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, and document mechanical and electromechanical components for DoD programs. You will independently analyze proposals, create detailed drawings and BOMs, and ensure designs are manufacturable using existing methods.

Experience with CAD and DoD systems is essential, with an active secret clearance required. The role involves leading design efforts, supporting testing, and guiding engineering changes throughout the

Qualifications

• Six (6)+ years of full-time experience in mechanical engineering.
• Three (3)+ years supporting design and development of DoD systems.
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience with CAD software: AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor preferred.
• Extensive 3D modeling, drawings, and BOMs.

Responsibilities

• Research customer designs, analyze feasibility of designs and applications.
• Develop drawings and documentation packages per industry standards.
• Create drawings including Level-3 drawings, BOMs, 3D models, and installation drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
• Assess specifications to ensure manufacturability with current methods.
• Evaluate design feasibility considering cost, schedule, and manufacturing capabilities.
• Support system integration, testing, troubleshooting, and ECAs across the lifecycle.
