Job summary

American Honda Motor Co., Inc. in Haw River, NC is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead design maturation, 3D CAD modeling, and prototype verification for Honda Power Products including generators, lawn mowers, and industrial engines.

You will guide small engineering project teams, perform tolerance analyses, FEM, and coordinate with cross-functional departments to deliver on-time milestones and make robust engineering decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 2+ years of engineering design experience in power equipment, engines, or powersports.
• Proficiency in CATIA 3D CAD modeling, FTA/FMEA, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Proven capability to lead small project teams and coordinate with cross-functional departments.
• High level of confidentiality and strong technical communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Generate 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, and engineering calculations for power equipment mechanisms.
• Perform tolerance stack-ups, gear analyses, spring designs, and finite element calculations.
• Lead small project engineering teams, ensuring deadlines are met through SED and TE milestones.
• Facilitate prototype builds, supplier negotiations, and manufacturing assembly confirmations.
• Investigate market quality issues, analyze root causes, and engineer permanent countermeasures.
