Job summary

R A Pearson Company in Washington, DC, seeks a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design, development, and improvement of packaging machinery, ensuring performance and compliance with industry standards.

You will create detailed designs, prepare BOMs and cost estimates, mentor a design team, coordinate with sales, PM and manufacturing, and drive continuous improvement across the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required.
• Minimum two years Solid Modeling design experience; Autodesk Inventor preferred.
• Minimum five years experience in machinery design.
• Robotic integration experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Equipment Design: Prepare detailed designs based on specifications of desired machinery function, incl. conveyors and OEM equipment.
• Project Planning: Coordinate with sales, project management, and manufacturing to meet milestones.
• Cost Control: Evaluate materials and processes for cost-effective designs.
• Quality Control: Review, improve and implement procedures to maintain quality.
• Technical Support and Troubleshooting: Provide on-field and phone support; travel up to 25%.
• Supervision of Design Team: Supervise design teams to meet deadlines and budget commitments.
• Continuous Improvement: Support lifecycle management and other processes as assigned.
