Job summary

Johnson Service Group is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for a remote role with potential onsite work near Houston, TX. The position focuses on NSSS design, ASME BPVC guidelines, and NRC regulatory requirements in a nuclear plant context.

The candidate should have a BS in mechanical or nuclear engineering, 10+ years of relevant experience, and ideally a PE license. Travel up to 25% and collaboration with vendors are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or nuclear engineering required.
• PE license in mechanical or nuclear engineering preferred.
• 10+ years of relevant commercial nuclear plant experience required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review engineering specifications, drawings, and design documents for NSSS systems and components.
• Lead engineering reviews, calculations, and reports to ensure design integrity.
• Serve as technical lead for NSSS component and system design and coordinate with suppliers.
• Mentor engineers and guide multi-disciplinary teams on complex tasks.
• Ensure QA and regulatory compliance per 10 CFR 50 Appendix B and ASME NQA-1.
