Job summary

ASSA ABLOY Group is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the New Product Development team. You will design, develop, and launch new products from concept through production, collaborating with product management, production, quality, supply chain, sales, and marketing to meet performance, cost, and manufacturing requirements.

The role emphasizes SolidWorks design, simulations, testing, and continuous improvement, with involvement across cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience in product development or engineering, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong proficiency with SolidWorks; DriveWorks experience is a plus.
• Experience with FEA, DFM, and DFMEA is highly desirable.
• Experience developing electromechanical products with electrical controls, automation, sensors, motors, actuators, or industrial equipment.
• Experience with PLC-based control systems and HMI interfaces is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to the design and development of new products meeting customer needs, safety, and manufacturing capabilities.
• Develop detailed product specifications, 3D models, and engineering drawings using SolidWorks.
• Perform simulations, prototyping, and testing to validate design concepts.
• Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, procurement, marketing, and quality to integrate products into production.
• Manage the complete product development lifecycle from ideation to production launch.
• Create and maintain project timelines and participate in design reviews.
• Conduct rigorous testing to ensure design and performance, and analyze test data for design adjustments.
• Suggest and implement continuous improvements in product design and manufacturing processes.
