Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a highly creative Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to support development of advanced manufacturing equipment for TRISO fuel production and microfluidic kernel formation processes. You will design, prototype, test, troubleshoot, and refine equipment from concept through deployment, with a focus on throughputs, scalability and reliability.

The role demands 5–10+ years of mechanical design experience, SolidWorks proficiency, and strong knowledge of GD&T.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• 5-10+ years of mechanical equipment design experience.
• Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software.
• Proven experience designing and developing equipment from concept through prototype and production implementation.
• Strong understanding of machined components, welded assemblies, sheet metal fabrication, fluid handling equipment, and system integration.
• Practical knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawing fundamentals.
• Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced development environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, test, troubleshoot, and refine equipment for microfluidics and manufacturing processes.
• Develop detailed assemblies, fabrication packs, P&IDs, wiring diagrams and supporting design documentation.
• Collaborate with scientists, manufacturing and operations teams to deliver manufacturable solutions.
• Lead design-for-manufacturing considerations and drive multiple build-test-learn iterations.
