Job summary

Copeland is seeking an experienced Design Engineer, based at our Sidney, OH location, responsible for engineering drawings, CAD/CAE models, and BOMs for Oil Free Centrifugal products. You will collaborate across labs and manufacturing to ensure design intent and quality outputs.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering and 2–5 years of drafting and mechanical design experience, with proficiency in CAD tools and ASME Y14.5 standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 2-5 years of work experience in drafting and mechanical design in manufacturing.
• CAD/CAE modeling using parametric methods to capture design intent.
• Understanding of component and process costs and design impact.
• Experience with ASME Y14.5 drafting standards.

Responsibilities

• Establish and document component and assembly specifications with geometry, materials, tolerances.
• Apply mechanical science to design analysis: static/dynamic, materials, optimization.
• Support teams to document designs meeting product specifications.
• Create and verify engineering drawings and Cad/CAE models per standards.
• Verify design intent with CAD and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Develop advanced layouts for compressors, subsystems, and components.
• Produce and maintain design records and BOMs.
• Support labs, manufacturing, supplier quality, procurement, and advanced manufacturing.
• Collaborate globally to develop drawing packages and ensure consistency.
• Check global project drawings to ensure design intent.
