Job summary

Type One Energy seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to deliver conceptual, preliminary and final designs for its stellarator fusion power plants. You will work on vacuum vessels, divertors, magnets, and plasma-facing components, translating requirements into robust systems.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in engineering with 5+ years of experience; experience with Siemens NX CAD, ANSYS/COMSOL and CAD/PDM environments is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in mechanical design.
• Experience with Siemens NX CAD software is highly desirable.
• Expert in mechanical design principles, failure modes, and lifecycle reliability.
• Experience with engineering analysis using ANSYS or COMSOL is desirable.
• Familiarity with CAD/PDM environments.
• Experience with fusion energy systems design is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Translate design requirements into functional stellarator components and systems.
• Develop system and 3D component designs and technical specifications for stellarator systems.
• Analyze and align interface requirements between stellarator systems.
• Analyze and interpret simulation results to support design optimization.
• Develop procurement packages for components and assemblies.
• Resolve technical questions during fabrication and testing.
• Collaborate with a team of engineers and scientists on projects.
