Job summary

Thea Energy is seeking an experienced Director of Mechanical Engineering to own the mechanical design and development of primary and secondary components for its stellarator fusion systems. You will lead a cross-functional team spanning mechanical design, structural and stress analysis, thermal/fluids analysis, materials engineering, manufacturing, vacuum, and nuclear engineering.

You will drive requirements definition, trades, integration, and verification campaigns, ensuring manufacturability,

Qualifications

• 15+ years of mechanical/nuclear engineering experience in large-scale hardware projects.
• Requires deep knowledge in at least two areas: structural, thermal, vacuum, cryogenic, nuclear engineering or high-heat components.
• Demonstrated program management of multi-disciplinary hardware from concept to fabrication and test.
• Strong materials and manufacturing process understanding for demanding mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical fusion system baseline from requirements through operation.
• Drive system-level trades across thermal, structural, electromagnetic, vacuum, cryogenic domains.
• Define and enforce interface controls and requirements flow down.
• Lead cross-disciplinary teams across design, analysis, manufacturing, and QA.
